The Department of Agriculture’s Animal Welfare and Control Unit (AWC) attended the American Heart Association first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) certification class with the Cayman Islands Border Control Unit (CBC), yesterday October 24th, 2023.
This training was made possible with the collaboration with Health Services Authority (HSA) who is an accredited training center in the Cayman Islands for the American Heart Association.
It was a great experience for the group, and we thank the instructors for their knowledge, care, and dedication in running this recognized certification.
Everyone in the training was eager to learn the necessary skills and techniques to help save lives.
The AWC and CBC are now certified in First Aid, CPR and AED.
Officers are more prepared than ever to provide First Aid CPR prior to the arrival of medical personnel. We are extremely proud of the group and thank them for their hard work and dedication.
The AWC is now ready to take the next step in their mission to provide the best care for our animals and our community.
Stay tuned as our Animal Welfare and Control officers will be undergoing animal first aid training as well.
This training will equip them with the knowledge and skills to help our animals in times of need.
