JOB PURPOSE
The Poultry Extension and Research Officer will coordinate the development of the poultry industry in the Cayman Islands and ensure the implementation of the National Egg Strategy (NEST) as defined by the DoA /MPAHITD and other similar poultry-related projects. To provide technical support to poultry farmers and poultry farming investment initiatives locally.
The post holder is expected to manage the Poultry Education and Innovation Centre to provide best practices learning materials (i.e. courses, leaflets, and guides) and to explore, develop and implement various research initiatives that will support the development of a robust poultry industry on the Cayman Islands. Providing technical support and extension service to approximately 50-70 poultry farmers.
The Poultry Extension and Research Officer will assist the Ministry in the delivery of technical standards, good practices guidelines and polices as well as guiding the local poultry farmers to improve their farming management procedures.

ANIMAL WELFARE OFFICER – Grand Cayman |
Salary Range: CI$41,376 – $54,312

The post holder is responsible for educating and aiding the community in understanding basic animal care and welfare. To act within the Animals Law/Act and other relevant legislation to prevent cruelty and safeguard the lives of animals being subjected to cruelty, whether through abuse or neglect.
Under supervision of the Senior Animal Welfare Officer, to use education as the primary method to combat animal cruelty and abuse, and as a secondary option or when necessary, issue citations, collect evidence, take photographs, and write reports for use in any criminal proceedings to assist prosecutors in preparing court cases and testifying in court.
- Must be a High School Graduate with basic knowledge animal healthcare and animal welfare.
- Must have obtained five C.X.C. or G.C.S.E. “O”-level passes (or equivalent), one of which must be in English Language
- Must have at least two (2) years’ professional work experience with animal behaviour, animal husbandry, or animal care.
