Weather Advisory and Business Operations Week of Sept 23 – 27

The Department of Agriculture wishes to inform you that our offices will be open for normal operations this week, Monday, September 23rd to Friday, September 27th, unless further advisories are issued regarding the inclement weather expected to begin tonight.

We strongly encourage all farmers to stock up on essential livestock and agricultural supplies today in preparation for the incoming storm. Livestock farmers, in particular, should take note of the key safety points outlined below and act accordingly:

Key Points for Farmers:

  • Flooding Risk: Be aware that flooding can happen suddenly. Plan potential escape routes for animals at risk of drowning.
  • Elevated Areas: If possible, allow animals access to higher ground, such as mounds, hills, or alternative pastures, to ensure their safety.
  • Electrical Hazards: Stay away from electrical lines and wires to avoid danger.
  • Secure Containers: Ensure that all containers are properly secured to prevent damage or contamination.
