FARM LABOURER – POULTRY- GRAND CAYMAN

JOB PURPOSE

The Department of Agriculture seeks an individual to carry out a wide range of tasks at the Department of Agriculture’s field station, office complex as well as off-station duties, focusing mainly on the Poultry Innovation and Education Center to support the health and well-being of poultry and maintain the facility.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • High school graduate with English and Math.
  • Must possess basic knowledge in agriculture, with a keen interest in poultry.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to recognize symptoms of common poultry diseases and health issues.
  • Must be able to lift or carry up to fifty (50) pounds from one point to the next
  • Must have a good work attitude and be a team player.
  • Must have a pleasant personality and be able to communicate well with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, on his/her own or with limited or no supervision
  • Must be able to follow instructions carefully on a wide range of tasks.

 

SALARY $ 30,312 – $39,780 per annum

VETERINARY OFFICER – GRAND CAYMAN

JOB PURPOSE

The Department of Agriculture seeks an individual to provide professional animal health care to a growing agriculture industry and to regulate the importation/exportation of all animals, animal products and foods of animal origin in order to protect the local fauna, as well as the health and safety of the general public.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent. Sound knowledge of the principles and practices of veterinary medicine and surgery, disease surveillance and control, veterinary public health, and regulatory medicine is a must.
  • One (1) year internship in large animal medicine at a recognised institution under the Supervision of a Qualified Veterinarian OR a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an active, clinical position with a focus in large animal veterinary medicine.
  • Ability to plan and conduct veterinary field, laboratory and abattoir services with minimal instruction and supervision; Ability to properly supervise and train subordinate staff; computer literacy.
  • Must have a good work attitude and be a team player.
  • Must have a pleasant personality and be able to communicate well with customers and co-workers.

 

SALARY $ 83,280 – $100,296 per annum
