Attention All Livestock Farmers!
It’s time once again for the Department of Agriculture Livestock Census 2025.
This year, the census takes on an electronic format, making the data collection process easier and more efficient for everyone involved.
🔍 How will the census work?
• A spreadsheet with all census categories will be available and explained to the farmers. This can be filled prior to the on-farm arrival of DoA’s personnel, who will then verify the data and ask the farmer to sign off.
• The census will be conducted by district, visiting each livestock farmer—similar to data collected for CI-ABIS.
• A representative from the DoA will contact all livestock farmers to arrange a convenient time to visit your farm.
• During the visit, we will work alongside farmers to input the required information using tablets. Having your data prepared in advance will help us make the most of your time as it will streamline the on-site process, reduce processing times, and ensure a smooth and accurate verification experience.
• With your permission, a minimum of two photos may be taken to support the census data and maintain an accurate record of your farm.
• The farm owner or their representative will be asked to review and sign the completed survey.
• DoA personnel will also sign the survey and submit it for final verification.
Why is this important?
Under the Farmers Identification and Registration Programme (FIRP), all registered agricultural producers are mandated to provide their production data bi-annually. Farmers must also maintain qualifications for their respective categories by meeting minimum production requirements during the annual census conducted by the DoA.
🙏 Thank you for giving our data collectors your full support as we aim to strengthen the livestock sector in the Cayman Islands.
