The Deputy Director of Agriculture is the senior deputy to the Director of Agriculture and a strategic leader within the Department. The role provides high-level managerial, technical, regulatory, and policy support to ensure the Department achieves its objectives in alignment with national agricultural and food security priorities. This position holds delegated authority over multiple divisions and is accountable for cross-island service delivery, major strategic initiatives, and the maintenance of operational excellence.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in agriculture (Agronomy, Plant Health, Ag Economics, etc.)
10+ years of tropical agriculture experience, including senior leadership
Proven strategic leadership and cross-functional team management
Strong budgeting, resource, and personnel management skills
Deep understanding of Cayman’s agri-policy and public sector
Excellent communication, including media and stakeholder engagement
Must demonstrate sound and effective Management and Leadership skills.

The Financial Accountant is to work collaboratively with the Senior Finance Manager (SFM) to ensure that all department accounting systems are appropriately structured and that all financial-related, day-to-day operations of the Finance Section are managed efficiently and effectively.
The postholder is required to develop, maintain and implement Policies and Procedures for the Finance Section.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
4+ years in accounting/finance, with 2+ years in compliance, auditing, or financial monitoring
Strong knowledge of GAAP, public finance regulations, and accrual accounting
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Oracle IRIS is a plus
Skilled in reporting, analysis, and improving financial practices and procedures
